Long, long ago, there once lived an ancient twoleg society in this very jungle. We stand in the remains of their cities currently. Traveler, I presume you've come here to learn of this ancient civilization, and what it means for your clans.
The twolegs that lived here were incredible respectable of the land. They believed in balance and equality. It's unclear of when, but a bond was one day formed between the twolegs and the wild cats of the jungle. The cats were revered by the twolegs, being treated as equals and friends. Its believed the bond was formed as wild cats began hunting pests around the settlements of the twolegs. The twolegs were thankful to the cats and took care of them in return. What started transactionally became companionship soon enough.
After centuries of life with the twolegs, the wild cats began to change. They were more social and would often form close connections to both their twoleg caretakers and other cats. They could no longer survive in the wild alone anymore either, grown too reliant on the bipedal creatures they lived with. The twolegs also bred them for more unique colourations, proportions, and patterns, giving them very distinct looks from their ancestral wild counterparts.
One day, an unknown calamity wiped the civilization from existence. However, for reasons not known to us, the cats the society cared for survived the initial event that ended their caretakers. These cats were left to fend for themselves and such formed groups with their loved and trusted ones to help protect one another. For some time, these groups lived scattered throughout the forgotten city, but resources were thin and thinning. It wasn’t uncommon for fights to break out over territory, food, and clean water. Until one day the cats decided to work together to find new lands for them. Four main groups were formed, and leaders were chosen. Theres leaders were tasked with finding land to split evenly among the groups in hopes of reducing fighting and territorial disputes.
While by now the cats all had designated land, they lived in with a select group of others, these weren’t exactly clans yet. Cats still stayed to their smaller groups of friends and family, living split up in their territory, simply sharing resources with the other groups of the territory and fending off those not permitted to the land. It wasn’t until a cat from each territory received a vision in their dreams that the clans were formed. They learned their history and traveled the lands together, until they found a temple where they were able to speak to the twolegs of the old world. The twolegs spoke of the destruction of the cats if they could not form structure in their social world. The cats were tasked with forming the clans and protecting their respective cans. They were named gods.
